Secondary Schools

This is a two-hour visit that consists of a mixture of presenter-led dome shows, animated dome shows, and a workshop.

This can be tailored to preference and to cover many aspects of the curriculum (see the buttons below for the relevant curriculum). Each session lasts for 2 hours in total and will generally consist of a Presenter-led Planetarium Show, a Full Dome Show in the Planetarium and a Workshop. You can mix and match the modules taught to suit your teaching needs.

Presenter-led Planetarium Show

Led by one of our Education team, take a class under in our Planetarium covering one of the following topics: Solar System, Stars and Galaxies, Celestial Phenomena, Properties of the Planets.

Dome Shows

We Are Stars

The We Are Stars full dome planetarium show seeks to answer some of the biggest questions of all time, what are we made of and where did it all come from? The film explores the secrets of our cosmic chemistry, our explosive origins and connects life on Earth to the evolution of the Universe. Narrated by Andy Serkis.

We Are Guardians

The We Are Guardians full dome planetarium show explores how our world, its peoples, and its ecosystems are intrinsically connected, and how with the help of satellite monitoring we can examine the links between human activities and climate change.

Workshops

Rockets

The rocket building workshop shows you how to build and launch a water propelled rocket, including explaining the forces and energy transfers involved.

Weather dependent.

Mars Landers

Design a Mars Lander to drop from a height to emulate the experiences of the NASA engineers trying to do the same thing. Can it safely land with no damage? Whose Lander will survive its descent?

Wet/windy weather alternative.

Prices

Child: £6.25 per student

Teachers: Free (ratio of 1 teacher for every 8 students for ages 10 to 12, and 1 teacher for every 10 students for ages 13 to 18)
